Writer and president of Indian Writers Forum Geetha Hariharan will inaugurate the May Sahitya Sammelan, a two-day Kannada literary event, here on Saturday.

Ladai Prakashana of Gadag will, in association with Kavalakki and Chittara Kalabhalaga, Dharwad, and others, organise this literary event which will be held at Alur Venkat Rao Bhavan auditorium.

According to a release from event convenor Basu Sulibhavi, it will be the fourth edition of the conference.

It will be open to all writers, students, artists and literary enthusiasts.

Along with delegates from the State, over 500 from other States too will participate in the conference which will witness the confluence of the youth and senior writers from various fields and serve as a platform for mutual interaction and exchange of thoughts and ideas.

Key issues

The conference would discuss key issues concerning the Kannada literary field and some of the latest developments in the field of creative writing.

There will be no entry fee.

All the participants will be provided with boarding facility and the participating students will be issued certificate of participation.

Every participant can freely take part in any of the discussions and also raise questions during the technical session, the release said.

Literary critics Madivannan K., Neela and Arvind Malgatti and others would be guests.

Book release

Writer Ramzan Dargah would release books, while D. Domnic, Basavaraj Hugar, B. Raju and K. Marulsiddappa would speak about the books.

The sessions include “Fascism: Its faces and opposition” and “Fascism and literature” on Saturday, “Intolerance: Campus Blues” and “Contemporary movements: Future step” on Sunday. Besides, there would be a panel discussion on “Media: current situation” and a poet’s meet. Writers D. Gavani and Mahabaleshwar Sail would deliver the concluding remarks at the valedictory ceremony to be held on Sunday.
