City Municipal Council president Manjunath Goppe has said that Raghu Achar, MLC, has released ₹2 crore for the development of basic infrastructure in minority colonies in the city, and another ₹2.5 crore for infrastructure in classrooms of government schools.

Mr. Goppe said on Friday that a few months ago, Mr. Achar visited schools in Chitradurga taluk to assess their infrastructure needs, and held discussions with students, teachers and parents. He assured them he would urge the Education Minister to release the required funds.

The funds, which have now been released, will be utilised for the construction of roads and drainage work in 12 minority colonies in the taluk, he said. He also said that the bad roads in the city would be repaired in six months.
