March 28, 2022 07:26 pm | Updated 07:26 pm IST - Hassan:

The Forest Department has appealed to the people of Allampura, Beekanahalli, Mallenahalli, Attigiri, and Kanive Dasarahalli Gram Panchayat limits in Chikkamagaluru taluk to cooperate with the department in the operation to drive wild elephants back into the forest area.

The department has taken up the drive after a woman died and another person suffered injuries in an elephant attack on Saturday at Kelaguru near Aldur.

A couple of tamed elephants are involved in the operation. The department has appealed to the farmers not to take up farming activities in these villages until the operation is completed.
