For the fifth day, Hosanagar taluk remains without electricity

Torrential rain caused extensive damage in the district on Tuesday.

The roof of Government Higher Primary School in Bekse-Kenjigudde village in Tirthahalli taluk collapsed due to rain on Monday.

Major parts of Hosanagar taluk continued to remain without power for the fifth consecutive day as more than 200 electricity poles were uprooted here due to heavy rain and wind. The taluk administration had declared holiday for schools and colleges in Hosanagar taluk on Tuesday. A pillar of the Pataguppa bridge being constructed across Sharavathi river near Hosanagar has been damaged by the gushing water of the river.

The water level in Linganamakki reservoir was at 1,759 feet against the maximum level of 1,819 feet. An inflow of 26,600 cusec was recorded here. The water-level in Bhadra reservoir was at 143 feet against the maximum level of 186 feet. An inflow of 14,861 cusec was recorded.
