District in-charge Minister V. Srinivas Prasad visited K.R. Hospital in the city on Friday to inquire about the condition of students admitted for food poisoning.

About 18 students of Kasturba Residential School in Nanjangud taluk were hospitalised for food poisoning, of whom five were being treated at K.R. Hospital.

The Minister said he would convene a meeting of wardens of government hostels and to fix accountability for such incidents. “Though the government spends crores of rupees in providing education, there is laxity in hygiene when it comes to hostel mess and kitchen,” said Mr. Prasad. The proposed meeting will also be attended by social welfare officers.

He said students of the school will be accommodated in a new building as a make-shift arrangement until the completion of the hostel building. Senior officials of the Mysore Zilla Panchayat were present.
