Urging political parties to raise issues such as the agrarian crisis, unemployment and corruption in the coming Lok Sabha elections, Chamaras Patil, Honorary President, Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, has cautioned that focusing on topics such as Hindu-Muslim conflict and Modi V/S Rahul would only lead to destruction of the nation as they were not in the interest of the people.

Addressing presspersons on Saturday, he said that emotional issues would not bring prosperity to the nation, only people-centric issues would lead the nation towards development.

Calling the ‘Kisan Samman’ (dignity of the farmer) scheme of the NDA government ‘Kisan Awaman’ (disrespect to farmer), he likened giving ₹6,000 a year to farmers, to the government giving alms to agrarians.

Claiming that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) announced by the Modi government has not been implemented till date, he said that if Prime Minister Modi had real concern for farmers, he must get MSP implemented for the 14 crops as he had announced.

Accusing BJP State President B.S. Yeddyurappa of playing politics over the recent terrorist attack, he said that it was shameful that he was looking for political advantage even in national tragedy. He also took on Congress and JD(S) the coalition partners of the State and said they did not care for the farming sector.

B. Nagendra, State president of the sangha, was critical of the coalition government and the opposition in getting the Land Acquisition Bill without any discussion. He accused the State government of bringing radical amendment to the 2013 Act only to help the corporate sector. “The BJP, being in the opposition is not raising any voice against it because even this party wants benefits to corporate sector,” he charged.

Urging Governor Vajubhai Vala to resend the Bill to the government, he said their organisation would keep protesting against the amendment.
