Two wild elephants strayed into agriculture land near Basavanahalli near Palya in Alur taluk

As many as five people, including a few presspersons, suffered minor injuries in their attempts to avoid an elephant attack near Basavanahalli in Alur taluk on Thursday evening.

The villagers had gathered in huge number as they learnt two wild elephants had strayed into a farm near the village on Thursday morning. Media men had also reached the spot on learning about the elephants’ in the village.

Disturbed by huge gathering, one of the elephants ran towards the public, forcing them run helter-skelter. Five people including crew of electronic media suffered minor injuries. Forest officials were on duty to drive them away till late in the evening. Villagers demanded that the Forest Department take strong measures to avoid repeat of such instances.
