Five members of a family from Dharwad, who were proceeding to Pune for attending a marriage, were killed when a bus they were travelling by was hit by another near Kolhapur on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Ayeshabi Handargal (70), Shahid Handargal, Shabiya Handargal, Shaheen Handargal and Yasmeen Handargal, all residents of Jannat Nagar in Dharwad.
According to police sources, 30 people from Dharwad were travelling by a private bus to Pune to attend the wedding of their relative and they had boarded the bus on Wednesday night. The bus was parked by the roadside near Kolhapur, when another bus rammed it from the rear. While three women were killed on the spot, the other two died in the hospital, the sources added.
