Minister for Public Works H.D. Revanna has instructed Holenarasipur taluk administration to identify the poor without houses and grant them suitable places to stay.

Speaking at a programme to lay the foundation stone for the construction of a power supply substation at Gangur in the taluk on Sunday, the Minister told tahsildar K.R. Srinivas to identify the beneficiaries and provide them land. “The applications submitted in form 94C should be verified and all eligible applicants should get sites for houses,” he said.

Regarding the applications seeking a grant of land for cultivation, the Minister said many small farmers have sought land. But the courts have made it mandatory to keep 30 acres of grazing land for animals in each village. “The land will be granted following the court’s order,” he said.

Mr. Revanna said he had sanctioned a sub-station for Gangur when he was the Energy Minister in 2006. “It is unfortunate that the work is starting now. Another sub-station is coming up at Kundur. Similarly, one more sub-station will come up near Paduvalahippe. These will help farmers to run irrigation pump-sets,” he said.

The sub-station coming up at Ganguru will help villages spread over three gram panchayats – Paduvalahippe, Sankanahalli and Doddabyagatavalli.

Elected representatives and CESC officers were present.
