Film on Gauri hits hurdle

Film-maker AMR Ramesh’s plan to make a feature film on the killing of Gauri Lankesh has hit a hurdle, with her mother Indira Lankesh asking the director to refrain from going ahead.

Shankarappa, an advocate on behalf of Ms. Indira, has issued legal notices to Mr. Ramesh and to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce directing it not to register the title of the film. The notice cautions of filing civil and criminal cases against Mr. Ramesh if he goes ahead with the project and KFCC if it registers the title of the film.

Confirming the receipt of the legal notice, Mr. Ramesh said that he had no intention of discrediting Gauri Lankesh, whom he knew personally. “I will respond through my legal team,” he said.
