Farmers led by the State president of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sanga, Kodihalli Chandrashekar, tried to demolish a wall built across the Suvarnmukhi by the Andhra Pradesh government on the Karnataka-Andhra Pradesh border to divert water towards Agali tank in Andhra Pradesh, on Sunday. The farmers rushed to Sajjehosahalli in Madhugiri taluk and tried to move towards the wall. However, as Section 144 of the Cr. PC had been imposed in the area, the police did not allow the protesters to come near the wall and convinced them to return. The water, which has to flow towards Madaluru tank in Sira taluk, has been diverted to Agali tank in Andhra Pradesh by constructing a wall across the Suvarnamukhi, the farmers said. Mr. Chandrashekar demanded that the State government demolish the wall in 20 days.
