A farmer committed suicide at Lakkunda village in Sakleshpur taluk on Saturday. Dharanendra, 32, hanged himself from a tree on his farmland.

His father Muddanna Pujari in his complaint file with the Sakleshpur Rural Police said Dharandendra had borrowed ₹2.50 lakh from Sundekere branch of State Bank of Mysore, and another ₹5.5 lakh as a private loan to grow coffee on his farm. He was worried about clearing the loan. The police have registered an unnatural death report.
