Fake currency: seven held

Acting on a tip-off, the Harihar Police have arrested seven persons allegedly involved in circulating fake currency at Harihar taluk here on Monday.

The accused have been identified as Shanmukh, Ramreddy, Praveen, Raju, Chandrashekhar, Nagaraj Naik and Mahantesh.

Police sources said the accused used to circulate fake currency at the government bus terminal, railway station and other congested areas.

They have recovered 615 fake currency notes in the denomination of Rs. 1,000; 566 notes in the denomination of Rs. 500, and 1,070 notes in the denomination of Rs. 100.

The police have recovered two printing machines, ink, paper and two bikes from the accused.

A case is registered in Harihar police station and further investigations are on.
