Students have demanded that the distribution of milk to them under the Ksheera Bhagya scheme be extended to six days from three days in a week. They were participating in a ‘Jana-Mana’ programme here on Sunday. It was chaired by district in-charge Minister M.B. Patil.

Beneficiaries of Anna Bhagya scheme alleged that the officials had removed names of BPL families from the list. Transgenders said that sexual minorities did not get houses on rent and the government should provide them Ashraya houses.

Farmers said that the subsidised diesel-operated generators provided under the Krishi Bhagya scheme were more expensive than those available in the market. They demanded that the government allow them to buy generators of their choice and deposit the subsidy amount in their account. The beneficiaries pointed out the lacunas in government schemes and suggested ways to rectify it.

Mr. Patil said, “I admit that many schemes are yet to be streamlined as they still have some loose ends which is giving room for their misuse. The government is trying its best to ensure that all the schemes reached the beneficiaries.” The Minister said that some of the suggestions would be brought to the notice of the Ministers.

Makbul Bagwan, MLA; Umesh Kolkur, Vijayapura Zilla Panchayat president; Arun Shahpur, MLC; D. Randeep, Deputy Commissioner; and Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, zilla panchayat chief executive officer, were present.
