Several doubts from anxious students and parents were clarified at the counselling session held on Sunday by a panel of experts, including S.N. Manjunath from Mysore Medical College and Research Institution (MMCRI); Syed Shakeeb Ur Rahman, principal of JCE College; B.G. Prakash of College of Horticulture; Shoaib Valai, career counsellor from CIGMA and M. Srinivasan of the Karnataka Examination Authority.

Prof. Shakeeb, in response to a question, said that there were over 210 engineering colleges across the State and 17 of them were autonomous. Companies conducting campus selections would not bother about the autonomous tag, but rather if the college imparted good education. A parent sought to know the job prospects after B.Sc. agriculture. Prof. Prakash said there were ample opportunities forB.Sc. Agriculture graduates and noted that many government posts were lying vacant for want of eligible graduates.

To a question about the scope for Integrated Medicine, Prof. Manjunath noted that there were many streams in it including clinical research, and medicine as business. After doing MBBS, he could opt for Ph.D. in IISc and further pursue an MBA in Medicine.
