Eshwarappa’s aide shown the door

Hrishikesh Pai, chief of Yuva Morcha Shivamogga district unit, sacked

Continuing disciplinary action against dissenters, the Bharatiya Janata Party district unit has relieved Hrishikesh Pai, president of Yuva Morcha district unit from his position.

The decision was taken on Friday. Mr. Pai, a supporter of K.S. Eshwarappa, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, was in the forefront of the convention that was organised by the rebel faction in Bengaluru on April 27.

It is alleged that Mr. Pai had tried to assault a supporter of B.S. Yeddyurappa, BJP State unit president, at the convention and was also involved in a clash between the followers of Mr. Yeddyurappa and Mr. Eshwarappa that took place in BJP office in Shivamogga on January 27. In wake of these developments, the BJP district unit has relieved him from the post.

Show-cause notice

The district unit has also issued show-cause notices to senior functionaries Girish Patel and S. Dattatri for their involvement in the preparations for the Bengaluru convention. Both of them had earlier served as president of district unit and are close associates of Mr. Eshwarappa.

The party has given them eight days time to reply to the notices. There were hints that the party would initiate disciplinary action against them if they fail to give a proper reply to the notice.
