Eshwarappa: government is killing farmers

June 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - Bidar:

The State government is killing farmers. They are not committing suicide, K.S. Eshwarappa, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, said in Bidar on Friday.

The State government’s failure to implement laws to control sugar factories, wrong policies that have failed to fetch proper price for sugar and sugarcane, and negligent attitude towards farmers is killing them, he added. He was speaking to presspersons before the State Executive Committee meeting of the BJP Muslim morcha.

Issue in session

Kalaburagi Correspondent reports: Mr. Eshwarappa said the State government had failed to keep the sugar mill managements under tight leash. The factory managements were not even bothered of the circular and the notices issued by the government for clearing the dues of the sugarcane growers. He said that the BJP and JD(S) would take up the problems of farmers during the Assembly session at Belagavi.
