‘Eradicate imbalance with education’

“Imbalance in society can only be eradicated by education. Thus, people from all communities’ particularly backward classes must get educated compulsorily to face challenges and find out solutions”, Prakash. G. Rajput, Additional Deputy Commissioner, has said. He was addressing the ‘Dalita Vachanakaarara Jayantyotsava’ in Yadgir on Monday.

He said that Vachana Chaluvali brought an immense change in the 12th century as many prominent saints, particularly Dalits, wrote thousands of vachanas to eradicate social evils like gender inequality, caste discrimination and others. “The saints who fought social evils gave preference to education to face problems and find solutions and succeeded. Therefore, people should understand the importance of education and provide it to children without fail,” he said.

Jyothilata Tadibidimath, lecturer, who delivered a speech on Dalita Vachanakaras, said sensitiveness and social concern can be seen in vachanas by Madara Channayya, Dohara Kakkayya, Madara Dhulayya and Urilinga Peddi and other vachanakaras of the 12th century. “They condemned the attitude in which men and women from the Dalit community were targeted in their vachanas,” she added.
