As there is an urgent need for paediatric medicines, the health authorities in Mysuru are mobilising drugs for children to distribute them in Madikeri. They are expected to be delivered by Sunday.

A 17-member team of doctors and nursing staff and four ambulances have rushed to Kodagu from Mysuru to give healthcare to the needy. The team includes doctors from the Department of Health and Family Welfare and Mysuru Medical College. Another team, including doctors and nursing staff from four private hospitals, is also leaving to Madikeri.

Meanwhile, an epidemic outbreak is feared in flood-hit Kodagu and parts of Mysuru and the health authorities have issued an advisory. District Health Officer Basavaraju said he visited the flood-hit villages in H.D. Kote bordering Kerala and issued an advisory to the local administrations to supply packaged water to avoid risks of water contamination. Outbreak of water-borne diseases has to be checked with necessary precautions, he said.
