Overcome by the grief of their son’s death, an eldery couple from Madapura village in T. Narsipura taluk committed suicide by jumping into the Cauvery, on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Renuka Prasad (63) and his wife Annapoornamma (55). Their son Kiran (35) had committed suicide last week.
The couple left behind a note stating that they were resorting to the extreme step unable to bear the grief of their son’s demise. The bodies was retrieved from the river and later sent to the hospital for post-mortem.
The Talakad police have registered a case and are investigating.
