Y.A. Narayanaswamy, MLC, has said education should promote humanity among students in order to build a better society.

He was inaugurating the annual day function of Gokul Educational Institutions here on Thursday. The responsibility of parents will not stop at fulfilling the requirements of their wards. Watch the activities of their wards so that they will not tread on the wrong path is the bounden duty of the parents, Mr. Narayanaswamy said.

He criticised the government for giving unbridled licence to open schools for those coming from other States. The government should cancel the licence of those institutions that start schools and colleges in order to make money by exploiting the parents, he said.

Indian Red Cross Society office-bearer B. Suresh spoke.
