A doctor from Andhra Pradesh, who was promised a MD seat, was cheated of Rs. 1.03 crore.

According to the Udupi Town Police, S.K. Veereshwar Raju (29), a doctor and a resident of Mummidivaram, East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, was promised an MD seat by Sangeet Kumar in either Udupi or Mangaluru. But Kumar kept a demand of Rs. 1.03 crore for the seat.

Accordingly, Dr. Raju had credited an amount of Rs. 52.50 lakh from March 14, 2012, to May 24, 2012 to Kumar’s account in ICICI Bank in Udupi. The rest of the money was credited in other bank accounts of Kumar in other places including Mangaluru and Bengaluru.

Dr. Raju was promised the seat for 2013-14. However, after April 2014, Kumar stopped taking calls of Dr. Raju. Neither did Kumar get Dr. Raju the promised seat nor did he return the money.

Hence, Dr. Raju lodged a complaint at the Udupi Town Police Station.

A case under Section 420 (cheating) of Indian Penal Code had been registered at the Udupi Town Police Station and investigations were on, the police said.
