D.K. Shivakumar to meet rebel leaders in Mumbai today

A team of Congress and JD(S) legislators, led by Water Resources Minister D.K. Shivakumar, has decided to go to Mumbai on Wednesday to pacify the rebel MLAs, who had submitted resignations from the membership of the Legislative Assembly.

The MLAs have been staying at a hotel in Mumbai since Saturday evening. “They are our friends. We are meeting them tomorrow,” said Mr. Shivakumar, the party’s main trouble shooter, who will be accompanied by JD(S) MLA Shivalinge Gowda and others.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad reached Bengaluru to find an amicable solution to the crisis.

Mr. Azad, who played a critical role in stitching together the coalition government after the fractured mandate in 2018, is expected to hold talks with JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday, sources said.
