Directorate of Distance Education to offer 17 courses under ODL

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recognised the newly-established Directorate of Distance Education, University of Mysore, and permitted it to offer 17 courses under the Open Distance Learning (ODL) mode from this year.

The university had submitted an application seeking recognition for 25 courses but the UGC granted permission to 17 for 2018-19.

Last date

The last date for admissions is October 20. MBA, MCA, BCA, M Ed and B Ed programmes have not received permission. “These courses were not recognised to be offered under ODL mode and the UGC stated that we can apply later with prior approval of the respective regulatory authorities such as AICTE and NCTE. The university plans to get prior approval from these bodies to launch these programmes from the next academic year,” said Rajanna, Registrar.

The list of courses that received recognition are: BA in Economics, English, History, Kannada, Political Science, Sociology, BBM, B.Com, B.Sc (IT), MA in Economics, English, History, Kannada, Political Science, Sociology, M.Com, and M.Sc (IT).

KSOU

Recently, the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) got recognition from the UGC to offer 31 courses and admissions for the same are under way.
