Yoga for all
While Minister for Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khader has openly batted for yoga saying religious tags cannot be attached to the renowned system, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim has silently been practising the exercise for over six months.
Mr. Khader recently revealed that he was able to shed about 20 kg weight through a rigorous combination of diet, yoga and other exercises.
On the other hand, Mr. Ibrahim has been practising several asanas at his official residence since January.
Yoga instructor Delampady Gopalakrishna has been imparting instructions to Mr. Ibrahim.
The DC said age is no bar to commence the practice and he has been getting the results of the exercise.
Rain to play spoiler?
Will the rain festival in Pilikula on Sunday get restricted to coverage in newspapers?
This seems to be the impression of those involved in organising the Rain Festival at the Shivarama Karanth Pilikula Nisargadhama.
Modelled on the event in Waynesburg PA in the US, this rain festival features events like umbrella designing and display of agriculture equipments. Delicacies prepared in the rainy season in the region would also be available. There is hope that this event gets a crowd similar to those seen during Matysotsava and Vasantotsava held on earlier Sundays.
