Demand to recover encroached land of Ganapati tank

May 02, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - Shivamogga:

It has been decided by the Sagar City Municipal Council (CMC) at a meeting on Thursday that the government should be urged to initiate measures to clear the encroachment of Ganapati tank.

T.N. Srinivas, councillor, who raised the issue, said more than three acres of land of Ganapati tank had been encroached upon, spoiling its aesthetic look. Besides, the storage capacity of the tank had come down drastically. Mr. Srinivas claimed that another property of the CMC located adjacent to the Varadashree Hotel on B.H. Road in Sagar, had been encroached upon by a few influential people.

The khata of the land had been changed illegally, he said. S.L. Manjunath, member, urged the CMC to initiate measures to reclaim the encroached land. President of CMC N. Lalithamma and vice-president Syed Iqbal were present.
