DCC Bank in Vijayapura has drawn up several programmes to mark its centenary celebrations.

The centenary celebrations of the District Central Cooperative (DCC) Bank would be celebrated on a grand scale as the bank would turn 100 in June next year, said the former Minister and DCC Bank President Shivanand Patil.

Speaking at a general meeting of the bank here on Wednesday, he said that the bank plans to invite the President, the Vice-President and other dignitaries to mark the occasion.

He said that to make the event memorable, mainly for farmers, a horticulture, agriculture and fisheries mela will be organised.

Mr. Patil said that before the commencement of the celebrations, branches would be opened at Indi and Muddebihal taluks of the district.

He said that in the current financial year, the bank has earned a net profit of ₹ 13.03 crore.

“We are also planning to open 13 more branches in different places this year. We are making necessary preparations for that. The objective is to have our own buildings for every branch instead of functioning in rented buildings,” Mr. Patil said.

Ajaykumar Sarnayak, president of Bagalkot DCC Bank, who was present, said that banks of both the districts are doing well after they separated and became independent in 2003.

Before that, the Bagalkot bank was part of Vijayapura DCC Bank.

He said that it is certainly a matter of pride for the people here as a bank is completing 100 years of functioning and is working successfully by providing financial assistance to people of various sectors.
