Schools in Mysuru district will remain closed from October 10 to 27 as part of Dasara vacation. The schools reopen for the remaining part of the academic year on October 28.
Deputy Director of Public Instruction H.R. Basappa, who issued the circular to schools declaring Dasara holidays, told The Hindu that the decision on holidays had been taken based on the instructions from higher authorities. This time, the number of holidays was more compared to the previous year, he added.
However, Mr. Basappa said the circular applies only to government, aided and unaided schools, which follow the syllabus prescribed by the State. “Since private schools prescribing CBSE and ICSE syllabi do not come under our control, they recommend holidays as per their convenience,” he said.
The vacation would facilitate children to participate in Dasara festivities, which begin from October 13 and conclude on October 23.
Many CBSE schools too in Mysuru had declared Dasara vacation from October 10 and they reopen on October 28, he said.
