‘Dasara Kavigoshti’ to be held on October 19, 20

Latha Rajashekar, poet, will inaugurate ‘Dasara Kavigoshti’, which will be held on October 19 and 20 at the Humanities Block at Manasagangotri, postgraduate campus of Mysuru University.

V. Srinivas Prasad, Revenue and district in-charge Minister said that poet, K.B. Siddaiah, will preside over the inaugural part of the event.

K.C. Shivappa, poet, will preside after the formal inauguration of the event. Ramzan Durga, Vijayapura poet, will be the chief guest, he said.

Over 30 selected poets from different parts of the State will take part, the Minister said, adding that preference would be given to poets from Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu and Hassan districts.

A seminar on “Uluvayogi” and “Baduku Bavane” will be held at 3 p.m. Folklore expert, Krishnamurthy Hanur, will preside over the event.

Seminars on topics, such as ‘Janapada Sahitya’, ‘Prachina Kavya’, ‘Vachana Sahitya Mathu Sarvajna’ and ‘Adunika Sahitya’ will be held on the occasion.

A special session on the works of M.M. Kalburgi would also be held. The main programme will be held on October 20 under the banner, ‘Krishi Kavya Siri’, and it will be inaugurated by Nadoja Kamala Hampana.

L. Hanumanthaiah, Chairman of the Kannada Development Authority, Dr will be the chief guest.
