Dasara dates rescheduled again; Jamboo Savari on Oct. 23

October 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - MYSURU:

After a hue and cry over change of dates, the State government has rescheduled the dates of the State-organised Dasara yet again.

Now, the festival will be held from October 13 to 23 and not from October 13 to 22 as announced two days ago.

This was decided to avoid clash of dates with the rituals and private procession of the Wadiyars that are scheduled to be held on October 22.

On Saturday, Pramoda Devi Wadiyar expressed her displeasure at the government’s decision on advancing the Dasara procession by a day (October 22) stating that the royal family needs space at the palace free from crowd for conducting rituals on October 22 (Ayudha Puja day).

Originally, the State Dasara was slated to be held from October 14 to 23 while the Wadiyars had fixed the events from October 13 to 22 as per the almanac. But the authorities decided to sync the State events and follow the almanac and advanced both the inauguration as well as the Vijayadashmi procession by a day.

The festival will now be held from

October 13 to 23
