Daily wager under Nirantara Jyothi Yojana dies of electrocution

A person, working on a daily-wage basis for a private company that bagged work under the State government’s Nirantara Jyothi Yojana, died of electrocution at Thendihalli in Hassan taluk on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Mahabaleshwara alias Janu (23), native of Uttara Kannada district.

According to the police, he came in contact with a live wire while he was on an electric pole. He was working for Larsen and Turbo (L&T India) as a daily wager. The company had got the tender to draw electric wires in rural areas under the Nirantara Jyoti Yojana (NJY). K. Subramanya, Superintendent Engineer of CESC (Hassan Circle), on Saturday, told The Hindu that the deceased was working for L&T.

The Dudda police have registered a complaint. Relatives of the deceased are yet to reach the spot.
