The members of Communist Party of India (Marxist) marched up to the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Tuesday with a delegation, condemning the discrimination against Dalits and demanding the State government to take measures to prevent such discriminations.

The 10-member delegation comprised of member of State Committee of CPI(M) Syed Mujeeb, District Secretary N.K. Subramanya, leaders of the party S. Raghavendra, C. Ajjappa and other members of the party.

A signature campaign has also been started from Jayanagar in Tumakuru condemning the atrocities and discrimination meted out to Dalits.

Mr. Raghavendra said that they would collect one lakh signatures in the district demanding the District Administration and the State government to address the problems of Dalits in the district.

He alleged that the discrimination is on the rise in the district as cases were reported in Sira, Madhugiri and Chikkanayakanahalli.

After completion of the signature campaign the sheets containing the signatures along with their demand will be sent to the Chief Minister.
