Smearing of cow dung on a B.R. Ambedkar statue in Mylandahalli in Malur taluk of Kolar district has triggered tension.

The statue was found smeared with dung after supporters of two political parties engaged in a quarrel in connection with Gram Panchayat elections which will be held on June 2.

The incident caused rift between followers of some Dalit outfits and political parties.

Senior police and revenue and police officials including DySP K. Ashokkumar rushed to the spot and conducted meeting between groups.
