The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday allowed the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) to go ahead with the work on the Sirsi circle-Agara signal-free corridor at Koramangala location. The court on February 27 asked the BDA to stop the work.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen and Justice B.V. Nagarathna modified the February 27 interim order as the BDA on Wednesday informed the Bench that the contract for the work was awarded to NCC limited on June 27, 2011.

The court had earlier ordered for stopping of the work based on the contention made in the public interest litigation, filed by Citizen's Action Forum and residents' welfare associations of Koramangala area that no contract was awarded for the work at Koramangala.

BDA counsel told the Bench on Wednesday that the 16-km project was approved by an expert committee and a detailed project work (DPR) had also been prepared. The petitioners' contention was that there was no DPR for the entire stretch of the project.

The Bench was informed by the BDA counsel that a portion of corridor project at Koramangala comprised three underpasses and a flyover and it should have been completed by September 26 this year, but there has been a delay. Counsel, however, said the BDA would not take up the work on the remaining portion of the corridor for six months.
