Couple die, son sustains injury in accident

A couple died and their son got injured when the motorcycle they were travelling by collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction, and caught fire on the Mysuru-Malavalli main road on Saturday.Sameer (32) and his wife Ayesha (23), residents of Pete Beedi in Malavalli, died on the spot. Their son Abdul sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment in a hospital.A case has been registered.

Student ends life

In another incident, an ailing diploma student, son of a dismissed worker of the State government-owned Mysore Sugar Company Ltd. (Mysugar), allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence, at Sugar Town, here on Saturday.

The police identified him as R. Kishore, a student of Nitte Meenakshi College, near Mangalore.He was treated at a health institute recently, his relatives told presspersons.The management had sacked his father, Ramesh Kalmankar, along with some others, recently.

Meanwhile, holding Mysugar responsible for his death, some of his relatives and activists staged a protest against the sugar factory near the mortuary of Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences hospital.
