Councillors stage protest at Kolar DC office

A number of members of City Municipal Council (CMC) led by Gandhinagar Narayanaswamy staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Tuesday demanding launch of development works under the third phase of Nagarotthana project.

The government has released ₹ 35 crore for the works. However, the officials have failed to complete the tender process, the councillors alleged.

Development works in the city are lagging due to lack of coordination between CMC authorities and project implementation officials, Mr. Narayanaswamy said. Non-convening of general body meeting of the CMC resulted in members’ inability to discuss the issue, he added.

Additional Deputy Commissioner K. Vidyakumari, who met the protesters, assured them that a meeting of officials and contractors will be convened and instructions will be given to start the works in a fortnight.
