With the city thirsting for water even before the onset of summer, it was no surprise that several councillors brandished empty plastic pots in the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) council on Thursday.

The commotion over severe shortage of drinking water began even before the subject meeting could begin. Peenya Industrial Area councillor Thimmananjaiah stormed the well and demanded that the chairperson of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Gaurav Gupta, be called to the council so that they could discuss the water crisis.
