In the wake of outbreak of vector borne diseases the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) had initiated certain measures to prevent the spread of disease. It resolved to educate people about the ‘dos and don’ts’ and to streamline garbage collecting system. The Corporation also decided to drain out rain water at certain points and it plans to take up some emergency works to ensure that rain water would drain out instantaneously.
The Corporation keeps a constant vigil to ensure that drainages would not be blocked owing to piling of garbage.
The Corporation has banned the sale of cut fruits in the city and instructed all hotels and restaurants to compulsorily give hot water to customers. It instructed the hotels to keep their premises clean and serve food in ‘most hygienic’ condition. A team of officials would give surprise visit to hotels to supervise that food is being prepared and given to customers in hygienic way and stringent action will be taken against the hotels which failed to abide by the instructions of the corporation. It has also instructed the bar and restaurants to keep their premises and vicinity clean and tidy.
Notices have been issued to over 30 hotels for not maintaining cleanliness in their premises in Mysuru and their licenses would be withdrawn if the hotels failed to maintain their premises clean and tidy, said Dr. Ramachandra, Health Officer of the Corporation.
