‘Conversion of non-hindus should be voluntary’

Sri Sanganabasava Swamiji of Kottur Mutt here, has taken strong exception to opposition to non-Hindus embracing Hinduism.

In a chat with press persons on the sidelines of a function organised to inaugurate an ‘aradhana bhavan’ here on Friday, Swamiji said, “Conversion should not be by force. If non-Hindus are willing to become Hindus voluntarily, why should anyone oppose it”.

He was reacting to the reported opposition to recent conversions that took place in Agra and also the opposition by political parties in this regard.

“When a large number of Hindus were converted to other religions by force and also voluntarily, why was there no opposition from any section then and why should there be opposition now”, he sought to know.
