Hours before the announcement of the CBI probe into the illegal lottery scam, to further embarrass the Congress government, the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy claimed that a “newly elected Congress member of the Legislative Council” and “son of a very important Congress politician” allegedly demanded Rs.100 crore to help Pari Rajan, the key accused in the scam.

At a press conference on Tuesday, he also claimed that eight senior police officials, apart from IPS officer Alok Kumar, who has been suspended, were involved in the scam.

He also alleged that a dispute among two SP-level officers led to the television sting operation, which finally resulted in the issue coming out in public.
