Congress plans public rally against Centre on November 12

Deciding to take on the Union government over its “failure” to bring in welfare policies, District Congress will hold a public rally here on November 12.

The announcement was made recently by the newly appointed District Congress Committee president Raju Algur. He said that several top leaders, including KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah, are expected to participate in the event.

The programme would be held at Darbar High School Grounds. On the same day, Mr. Algur would officially take charge of the post.

He said that the Congress has decided to go before the people to apprise them of the “failure” of the Union government in implementing welfare policies.

“The economic policy of the BJP government at the Centre has failed to meet the aspirations of the people. People are losing jobs, employment rate is high and the GDP has dipped,” he said. With regard to the video clip in which Chief Minster B.S. Yediyurappa is purportedly heard saying that party president Amit Shah himself was responsible for the Congress-Janata Dal(S) MLAs resigning from their Assembly membership, Mr. Algur said that the audio has clearly exposed the party.

“So far, the party has said that it had had no role in the disqualified MLAs submitting their resignations, but now after the ‘admission’ by Mr. Yediyurappa, it has become clear that it has played a key role in destabilising the erstwhile coalition government. We have brought the matter to the notice of the Governor,” he said.
