The Opposition Congress legislators continued their night-long dharna on Saturday by sleeping in the halls of the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council demanding sacking of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister K.S. Eshwarappa from the Cabinet for his controversial remark on hoisting the saffron flag on the Red Fort in the future.

Veteran leader and Rajya Sabha member Mallikarjun Kharge met protesting party legislators on the longue of the Assembly and expressed his solidarity in their fight. Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah, KPCC president D.K. Shivakumar, senior legislators K.R. Ramesh Kumar, U.T. Khader, and Tanvir Sait held discussions with Mr. Kharge.

The Congress protests prevented conduct of business in both Houses of the legislature for three days from Wednesday last. Congress chief whip Ajay Sindh issued a whip asking legislators to set aside all their engagements to take part in the sleepover protest till Monday.

On Friday, Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri adjourned the Assembly for Monday following protest in the well of the House by Congress members.
