Cong. MLAs allege bias in fund allocation

A delegation of the city legislators of the Congress led by KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao on Wednesday called on Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa at his residence ‘Krishna’ and demanded setting right the discrimination in releasing funds to constituencies represented by their party legislators in the city.

Speaking to presspersons after the meeting, Mr. Rao said the BJP government had modified the Chief Minister’s Nagarothana scheme and released a meagre amount to Congress MLA constituencies compared to those represented by the disqualified legislators and BJP legislators of the city.

Sources said that the State government has released an average of ₹550 crore for constituencies represented by the disqualified MLAs against the average sum of ₹78 crore for constituencies represented by the Congress MLAs.

During the coalition regime, the average amount released for Congress MLAs was ₹150 crore against ₹250 crore. Now in the BJP regime, the average amount for Congress MLA constituencies was ₹78 crore against ₹318 crore for BJP constituencies, the Congress MLAs said.

MLAs Ramalinga Reddy, Krishna Byre Gowda, K.J. George, and Sowmya Reddy were part of the delegation.

Mr. Rao said that Chief Minister has told the officials to set right discrimination. He said several infrastructure projects sanctioned to Congress constituencies were cancelled by the BJP government after it came to power.
