The Flying Squad officials on Friday conducted raids on the residence and school of a Congress leader at Bethamangala under KGF Assembly constituency.

This follows a complaint that Congress leader and former zilla panchayat member A.M. Lakshminarayan had ₹ 1 crore cash in his possession, KGF Election Officer N. Suresh said.

During the search, the officials found ₹1.19 lakh at the residence of Mr. Lakshminarayan, a close aide of MP K.H. Muniyappa. The MP’s daughter M. Roopakala is the Congress candidate in KGF (SC) seat.

The amount was seized and a FIR has been filed, Mr. Suresh said.
