Cong. leader unhappy with non-utilisation of funds

The leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha M. Mallikarjun Kharge has expressed over the non-utilisation of funds available under centrally-sponsored schemes.

Mr. Kharge said this would only result in a cut in the allocation of funds the next year.

He also expressed displeasure at the lack of knowledge of department officials regarding various schemes and instructed the Deputy Commissioner to discuss the issues that will feature in the vigilance and in-charge committee review meeting.

Mr. Kharge also questioned the zilla panchayat officials on how they would spend Rs. 12.50 crore under the Backward Region Grant Fund in the next two months.

‘Don’t play with savings’

Mr. Kharge also charged the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA government with jeopardising the savings of workers under the Employees Provident Fund by proposing to park the funds in the stock market.

Referring to the Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya’s statement, Mr. Kharge said that the Union government had no right to play with the savings of of the working class and no right to decide where to invest the contribution of employees.
