Confusion over water supply body trigger crisis: ACICM

The confusion on whether the Mysore City Corporation or the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board (KUWSDB) should take over the drinking water supply in Mysuru has resulted in water crisis here, deeply inconveniencing the residents, according to the Association of Concerned and Informed Citizens of Mysore (ACICM).

A delegation of ACICM led by its convener M. Lakshmana on Tuesday met Mayor R. Lingappa at his office and apprised him about the drinking water problems and the confusion in the minds of the residents on the authority.

Neither the MCC nor the KUWSDB should take up the responsibility and an independent board should be constituted for water supply in Mysuru on the lines of BWSSB.

“The confusion has led to artificial scarcity of drinking water and a serious view should be taken to resolve the issue,” Mr. Lakshmana said.

While a section of MCC councillors had demanded that the water distribution should be given to the MCC, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had recently announced that the KUWSDB was ideal to take up the responsibility.
