An advocate in Madikeri filed a complaint against rationalist and writer K.S. Bhagavan on the charge of hurting the religious sentiments of the people, at the town police station on Thursday.

The complaint was with reference to a book release function in Bidar district early this month where Mr. Bhagavan allegedly spoke about Lord Rama in a derogatory manner.

Confirming the developments, the local police said the complainant, Krishnamurthy, wanted a case registered against Mr. Bhagavan, but as the alleged statement was made at Aurad during a book release function, the complaint has been transferred to the jurisdictional police station.

Meanwhile, a few persons approached the Mandya police, with a petition against the Mysuru-based writer, but the Mandya SP Shivaprakash Devaraju said no complaint has been registered in the district against Mr. Bhagavan.

Reacting to the developments, the writer said in Mysuru that his work in ‘Rama Mandira - Yeke Beda’ was published in April and the second edition was released in December. ‘It is based on Valmiki’s Ramayana and I stand by it,” he said.
