There was commotion for a while at the Kumara Krupa guesthouse here on Thursday evening, where the coalition coordination committee meeting was being held, after a group of people raised slogans against Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.

The incident happened while a section of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes officials, who are part of SC/ST Government Employees’ Coordination Committee, were waiting for the Chief Minister to arrive at the meeting.

Suddenly, a group raised slogans against the CM and accused him of not protecting the interests of SCs/STs.

The officials, who later handed over a 93-page booklet, were at the guest house to urge the Chief Minister to implement the Consequential Seniority Act.

Committee office-bearers, however, distanced themselves from the group that raised slogans.

The High Grounds police have detained Venkataswamy, leader of the Samata Sainik Dal, and two of his associates for disrupting the programme.

So far, no complaint has been filed against them.
