The launch of combo ticket for Mysuru zoo and Karanji Lake Nature Park (KLNP) has got a thumbs up from visitors.

By establishing a walkway between the zoo and the nature park through the aquarium building, the zoo management has established a direct link between two tourism destinations and accordingly launched combo ticket for the convenience of visitors wishing to see both the places with a single ticket. Visitors can buy the combo ticket either at the zoo or at the nature park, which ever place they visit first, and see both the places. They get concessions on the combo ticket.

Ajit Kulkarni, Zoo Executive Director, told The Hindu that the combo ticket was launched since suggestions for such a facility had come from visitors. Besides getting relief from parking, the measure also reduces traffic congestion, he said, and added, “As the advantages were many, we launched the single ticket and the response so far has been encouraging.”

The link has been purposefully given through the aquarium building, adjacent to the zoo, since the zoo management plans to link the aquarium in the combo ticket once it is completed.

The incomplete aquarium project was formally handed over to the zoo by the Mysuru City Corporation recently. The zoo is on the must-see list of tourists and the nature park is also a popular spot since it has boating, an aviary and butterfly park. “We are in the process of conceptualising ideas for completing the aquarium project and this may take some time,” Mr. Kulkarni said.

The zoo has roped in aquatic experts and water theme park designers to complete the defunct and much-talked-about aquarium project, which was originally conceptualised and implemented by the MCC.
