Slamming the coalition government, Janata Dal (Secular) State president A.H. Vishwanath on Wednesday said that the experiment on forming an alliance in the State has become a laughing stock in national politics.
“The coalition is an experiment in national politics, within the democratic process, and as per the verdict of the people. However, I feel this experiment is somehow failing and people are talking about it,” he told reporters in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Mr. Vishwanath said that the coalition government was formed between the JD(S), a regional party, and Congress, a national party, based on a coordinated understanding. “But a situation is arising where there seems to be no coordination between the two parties. Both parties are not serious about continuation and success of the coalition experiment.”
He said that a chance to govern well has not been utilised. “The responsibility to set right the problem is with Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is chairman of the coalition’s coordination committee. But, they seem to be behaving as though they have no relation to this problem.”
Alleging that State politics was heading towards anarchy, Mr. Vishwanath said irrespective of the parties, nobody is interested in comprehensive development of the State or addressing the issues concerning people. He said “there are people to topple the government and there are people willing to fall prey to such plans.”
“I’m pained by the development as a senior leader. This anarchy is going to have serious consequences on State politics,” he added.
